THANK YOU

We received over $2000 in donations last week. Thank you all so much! We are trucking right along with our $10,000 challenge.

If you'd like to help but can't afford a monetary donation, there are other things we could use that you might have sitting around collecting dust. Anything horse related... halters, blankets, hay feeders, etc etc.

Prairie hay and brome are also needed... especially this time of year. And senior feed.

$10K CHALLENGE

** $10,000 DONATION AND PLEDGE CHALLENGE **
An anonymous donor came to us on September 24 with a proposal. They have $10,000 to donate to the rescue. The catch... they are challenging others to match their pledge by the end of 2009.* This doesn't necessarily have to be one person, or one company, who donates $10,000. The idea is to raise another $10,000 to match their pledge.
Donations and pledges can be made via PayPal at http://hitveras.blogspot.com/; or by mailing, or dropping off, a check to the rescue. This can be a one time donation, or a monthly pledge amount. If you would like to be a part of this challenge, please notate "10K" in the memo/purpose field of your check or PayPal when making your donation. Thank you in advance for your support.
*All monies must be received by January 1, 2010.

We have over 30 rescues right now. Below are three who came in within the last few weeks. They are all three underweight, one especially. These sweet mares are all in their mid 20s, and their owner failed to see that they were losing weight, and in poor health. Thankfully she did decide to surrender them to the rescue.

MOTHER NATURE

We had to cancel "Soul of a Horse" last weekend. Soon as we thought the rain was going to stop, it'd start up again. Then we saw another storm was to be coming. And by that time, there was so much standing water out at Emma Creek the show just couldn't go on. Good news though! We have rescheduled it for August 29. Get your lawn chairs ready, and we hope to see you there!! :)

COME ON SUNSHINE!!

8:45 AM -- The rain is coming down, but is supposed to be moving out. As of right now the show is still on. Some of the guys spent last night putting a roof on the stage. Don't forget your lawn chairs!! :)

BACK IN THE SADDLE

I know, I know... I've fallen behind on the blog again. Things have been busy busy at the rescue. We have a big event coming up on June 20. A benefit for the rescue. A concert at Emma Creek Farm (www.bluesbythetracks.com). We would love to see you there!

We also have a handful of new rescues. Sadie, Badger, Cowboy, Buddy, and one yet to be named. When they are ready for adoption, I'll get their info and pics on the website. Badger and Cowboy (two very handsome Paint geldings) have already had someone fall in love with them, so hopefully it won't be long before they are off to their forever home.

Here's a pic of Sadie shortly after she arrived. Thankfully she has gained some weight, but she still has more to gain before she's ready for adoption.
