BACK IN THE SADDLE

I know, I know... I've fallen behind on the blog again. Things have been busy busy at the rescue. We have a big event coming up on June 20. A benefit for the rescue. A concert at Emma Creek Farm (www.bluesbythetracks.com). We would love to see you there!

We also have a handful of new rescues. Sadie, Badger, Cowboy, Buddy, and one yet to be named. When they are ready for adoption, I'll get their info and pics on the website. Badger and Cowboy (two very handsome Paint geldings) have already had someone fall in love with them, so hopefully it won't be long before they are off to their forever home.

Here's a pic of Sadie shortly after she arrived. Thankfully she has gained some weight, but she still has more to gain before she's ready for adoption.

A HEARTFELT THANKS

A story about our rescue published in The Wichita Eagle this past Saturday, and the story was also on FOXnews.com. We have had an overwhelming response - and it's been so great! Thank you to everyone who came out to the rescue over the weekend. We received donations of cash, hay, and also some people interested in adding one of our rescues to their family. We have also received online donations through PayPal. Thank you all so much for opening up your hearts to help our equine friends in need. Sending lots of nuzzle muzzles your way!! :)

I'M BACK

Hey All,

Sorry for not keeping up on the blog. Things have been hoppin' at the rescue. We have several new residents - and they are available for adoption.

A few of the newbies... Nala, a beautiful light bay mare. She is a nine year old QH cross, and is gaited. She is suitable for an intermediate rider.

Also available is six year old Slim. He is a gray flea-bitten Arab cross, and quite handsome. He is not broke to ride, is a very sweet guy. Due to some dominance issues, he will probably need to go to a home where he is the only horse.

And a special request to anyone who can help... with winter quickly approaching, we are in great need of square bales of brome and/or prairie hay. If you, or someone you know, has any you would like to donate it would be greatly appreciated. If you can help, please call Ande at (316) 519-4129. THANK YOU!!

VALLEY CENTER FALL FEST

Hey all!!

Come by and see us at the Fall Fest today if you happen to be out and about, or just looking for something to do. Boo, Chase, Jim, Playgirl, and Tip are all there giving rides. And Burrito (our little donkey), Dazzle, Duke, Magic (miniature that the itty bitty kids are enjoying sitting on), and Thunder (former rescue... now happily adopted)are all there for you to see too. We'll be there 'til dark, or when things start winding down. We are at the corner of 1st and Park.

:)

And thanks to everyone who has already been by. We always enjoy seeing you.

NAMES

Good news!! I now have names to tell you... our precious little Mini is Molly, and our sweetheart of a donkey is Burrito.

I do believe we have someone interested in Molly. And Burrito I think is going to be just perfect for the festivals and things we travel to. The next one coming up that I know of is the fall festival in Valley Center... mid-September I think it is.
Stay tuned for more details.

More updates forthcoming... sooner, rather than later... I hope. :)

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

CATCHING UP

Hey all,

I have been lagging on blogging lately and I apologize. Things have been busy busy and I just haven’t been keeping y’all updated.

We have a few new resident’s at the rescue. Beauty, a black QH mare; a precious mini; and the sweetest little donkey. I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t even know the names of the mini, or the donkey.

Lady, the sorrel mare (Star’s mama), who had been at the trainer for 30-days is back at the rescue now. She will need another 60-90 days of training, but she has definitely come a long way.

In sad news, we lost one of our volunteers this week. Lynn Mariucci, a wonderful lady who was full of love and compassion, passed away as a result of complications from leukemia treatment. The horses will definitely miss her. She had been studying equine massage therapy, and enjoyed studying Parelli horsemanship as well.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend, and that the rain stays away long enough to get outside and horse around.
